Calling All Pool Experts!

I've been trying for a while to find a good, standard source of actions to take to correct the balance of a pool. For example a table that say put in X amount of chlorine when there is Y chlorine in a pool of size Z gallons.

I think what I really want is in the APSP-11 Standard for Water Quality in Public Pools. However, I am looking for a cheaper (or hopefully free) option that I could integrate into Pool Advisor.

Anyone know of a good source? I don't want to put poor quality information into Pool Advisor just for the sake of having something in there.

Please let me know if you have any ideas! Comment here or email pooladvisor@gmail.com.

Thanks!

Pool Advisor Version 2.7 released!

A quick update from 2.6.

Based on multiple requests, I added a note field to the Test Pool page. The note will show up in the logs and exports as well.

I also fixed a bug with the Custom Test field on the Test Pool page. Since nobody reported it yet, I'm hoping it wasn't an issue for anyone!

Pool Advisor 2.6 released!

At long last, a new update for Pool Advisor!

In this release, all version of Pool Advisor get the addition of Pool Pressure as a testing option.

In the Pro and Paid versions, you can now access 5 custom fields each for testing and inventory!

Use the General Settings to change what they are named and then in the Pool Settings you can turn them on or off for each pool.

These ideas came from user feedback. If you have any other ideas I'd love to hear them! I'd also appreciate and ratings or feedback in the Android Market.

Thanks for your support!

Pool Advisor version 2.5 was released this morning! In this release, you can now track the chemicals you are using and view them in a log. Previously you could enter the chemicals, but not have a history.

Coming up in the next release will be custom fields for Inventory and in the testing areas (Paid and Pro versions only).

Let me know if you have any other ideas for Pool Advisor!

Pool Advisor 2.4 released!

Some new features to tell you about. The biggest change is the addition of charting to the app! You can now view charts of each test that you do for your pool (or pools if you are using the Pro version).

Also added in this version is tracking of water temperature and warning for low inventory levels (the Pro version already got this feature in version 2.3).

What to expect in the next couple of (planned) versions:
Version 2.5 - Tracking/logging of chemicals used when treating pools
Version 3.0 - Suggested corrective action after testing your pool

If you think of anything else you'd like to see now that we're getting close to pool season, let me know!

Pool Advisor Pro Version 2.2 released!

Pool Advisor Pro Version 2.2 has been released in the Android Market. The free version of Pool Advisor will also get an update, but it is still in testing. It should be ready early this week.

New features in Pool Advisor Pro:
- Added metric unit support
- Added ability to delete a pool (from the Pool Settings page)
- Changed the Multi Pool Settings to include a default chemical range. This will be applied to new pools as you create them so you don't have to do that each time.
- Added a report where you can view all testing done on a day (or range of days).

Also a couple of bug fixes:
- Fixed decimal point issues with numeric fields on the Galaxy Tablet.
- Fixed the name of the pool shown on the page where you enter the amount of chemicals used after a test.

I've got some more things in mind, plus some of you have sent in feature requests. Keep 'em coming, I want this to be useful for you!

And tell your friends about Pool Advisor Pro!

Pool Advisor Pro bug?

I've been made aware of a bug that may show up when you backup a database from the free version and import it into the Pro version. If you have seen this, please email me with some details so I can help fix it! Thanks!

Version 2.1

A couple of updates to tell you about. All versions of Pool Advisor got an update today! Included in this update is the ability to track phosphate levels in your pool and you are now able to export the data from the log in a .csv file via email.

Pool Advisor Pro users - this is only on a per-pool basis right now. What would work best for your needs? An export by day? Drop me a line at pooladvisor@gmail.com and let me know!

I also fixed a bug on the non-Pro versions, where sometimes the Pool Settings page wouldn't load the data. If you see any other issues, let me know!

Updates coming soon

I'll have an update soon for exporting the logs in a .csv file via email. Also I'll be adding the ability to track phosphate levels.

For those of you that have downloaded Pool Advisor Pro, how is the multi pool support working out for you? Anything you'd like to see added?

Pool Advisor Pro is here!

Update: All three versions of Pool Advisor - Pool Advisor (free, with ads), Pool Advisor (99 cents, with no ads), and Pool Advisor Pro - are now available in the Marketplace!

Some big updates are in store. Pool Advisor Pro will be uploaded to the Android Marketplace tomorrow. For the month of February, you can buy Pool Advisor Pro for $2.99. In March, the price will go up to $4.99, so make sure you take advantage now!

Now you can manage multiple pools, keeping track of chemical checks, inventory, and reminders for each pool. Or if you're running a pool company and have your own inventory, you can keep track of all your inventory in one place.

Use the Select Active Pool page to select a pool you are working on or add a pool.

And you can change how the Inventory is managed in the Multi Pool Settings

I've got some more things I will add, including being able to export the data, set a primary pool, and email test results to a pool owner. If you have any other ideas to make this a better product, please let me know!

Version 1.3

Version 1.3 has been released with the ability to export and restore your database. This is handy not only for making sure your data is backed up on occasion, but will be useful if you want to move your data to an upgraded version of Pool Advisor.

Pool Advisor Pro with multi pool support is coming soon!

Recent updates

By suggestion, I added settings to track your pool's Salt Level and made it an Inventory item. You will have to enable these in the settings if you want to use them.

I have also added the Check Chemicals reminder so you don't forget to keep up with that!

Next will be the ability to export and import the database, mostly for backing up your data, but also for moving to a different version in the future.

Speaking of which... I'm working on multi pool support that several of you have asked for. Watch for Pool Advisor Pro coming soon!

Updates

I'm in the process of adding a new reminder for checking the pool chemicals. Which brings up a question - Currently I don't have the reminders lighting up the LED or vibrating or anything. Is that something anyone would find useful?

Exploring Pool Advisor - Desired Chemical Ranges

This is where you can set the minimum and maximum thresholds for each of your tests. This information is currently used to warn you as you enter your test results if any of your results are outside of these specified ranges. In a future version, this information will be used to recommend a course of action if any of the results fall out of range.

Exploring Pool Advisor - Chemical Selection

Here you can select what products you use to maintain your pool. This determines what is tracked on the Inventory page, as well as what is shown when you are prompted to find out what chemicals you used when testing your pool.

Have something that you use that is not listed? Comment here or send me an email to pooladvisor@gmail.com and I will try to include it in an upcoming release.
